Clearing agents to shut down Lagos ports over restriction of trucks

The Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) on Thursday threatened to shut down the Lagos ports over restriction order on movement of trucks.
This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Lagos by the National Publicity Secretary of the association, Mr Kayode Farinto.

The statement said the association might have no option than to collaborate with trailers drivers, ask its members to withdraw their services and shut down the ports.


CMP Looking into Relocation of Its Container Terminal

CMP, operator of the container terminal in Nordhavn, Copenhagen has signed a letter of intent with the Port of Køge to explore the possibilities for future cooperation on relocation of CMP’s container terminal.

 European Commission supports better access to medicines in poorest countries

 The Commission agreed to support the least developed countries’ call for easier access to cheaper medicines by means of an indefinite exemption from World Trade Organization (WTO) intellectual property rules for pharmaceuticals
 Outreach - Update on Environmental Goods Agreement (EGA) negotiations
The EGA aims to remove barriers to trade in environmental goods to reduce their cost and increase their uptake globally. Environmental goods cover technologies crucial for e.g. renewable energy generation, waste management, water treatment, air pollution control, environmental remediation and clean up, environmental monitoring and analysis, and energy efficiency.

 
$200k grant available for fuel-saving technology
Carbon War Room (CWR), a non-profit organisation backed by Virgin boss Richard Branson, reports that it is to make grants up to US$200,000 to finance shipowners or charterers in retrofitting a single vessel with a bundle of technologies, with the aim of creating a minimum fuel saving of 10–15 per cent.
