MSC takes holds 45% shares in Trieste Box Terminal

MSC was selected by TO Delta Group and it is estimated the price for the 45% stake was around €20m

Port of Rotterdam 

Rubis Terminal is expanding its terminal in Rotterdam. At the end of last year, the first pile was installed into the ground and after just finishing the civil works, 14 tanks will be delivered in the next few days.

 Port of Paranaguá Brazil

 The Paranaguá and Antonina ports has announced a huge modernisation programme for its beths 201 and 202 the first for almost 30 year. Food productin at the Port is growing  and this expansion will meet the volumes anticipated.

Brazil's agricultural agents strike.

 The union is seeking wage increases that cover losses they believe they have suffered as a result of Brazil’s stubbornly high inflation rate which was 9.53 percent in August, more than double the government’s target of 4.5 percent plus or minus two percentage points.  Transport News 

Lorry  driver arrested after fatal crash on M25 18th September 2015
 
A section of the M25 is closed after a motorcyclist was killed.
Police have shut the motorway clockwise between junction 30 for the A13 in Essex and junction 31 for the Lakeside shopping centre after a man in his 50s from Kent was killed.
The collision was between a lorry and a motorbike in the early hours of Friday morning. .
The lorry driver, a woman in her 30s from Romania, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is being interviewed by police.


Students working on a logistics apprenticeship will be considering the process of investigation by the authorities start with the driver's daily vehicle check.

 Health and safety

Vehicles at work continue to be a major cause of fatalities and serious injuries. Last year there were over 5000 incidents invovling transport in the workplace which resulted in 50 people losing their lives

Students of the month.

Traffic Office Apprenticeship Level 2 - Callum Nimmo from Goldstar Tilbury.
Callum has produced some high quality reports concerning cargo and equipment, the need to consider health and safety within the transport industry.

COAST Level 2 - Alistair Clements at George Baker Shipping Limited, Felixstowe
Ali has demonstrated an good understanding of the trade and shipping process with both excellent unit and exam grades.

Management of Trade and Shipping Level 5 - Paul Jenkins of Crane Building Services and Utilities Limited
Paul has used his  Level 5 to update and modernise the logistics supply within his  company.

The above students will be put forward for our London day out for 2 prize which will be drawn in December 2015.
