Wessels Reederei, the German shipping company, has signed a contract with MAN Diesel & Turbo at the Europort exhibition for maritime technology to retrofit the 8L48/60B main engine of its 1,000-teu container ship ‘Wes Amelie’ to dual-fuel operation. The vessel will be the first of its kind worldwide to be converted to an LNG-capable propulsion system.Port News
New terminal set up to serve east India 'Kakinada Container Terminal
KCT is situated in the Kakinada Deep Water Port (KDWP), an all-weather port in Andhra Pradesh, and is sheltered by a natural breakwater. The port is well positioned to serve east India’s agricultural, seafood and commodity hinterland, which exports products like rice, sugar, maize, shrimps and paper products.

Connecting Europe Facility
The European Commission has launched the second call for proposals of the Connecting Europe Facility, with more than EUR 7.6 billion of investment to finance transport projects. EUR 6.5 billion is earmarked for countries with Cohesion Fund eligibility.How much funding is available?
Under the current call for proposals €7.56 billion are being made available to improve European transport infrastructure, promote innovation and new technologies, develop intelligent transport systems and mitigate the safety and environmental impact of the sector. Out of the total amount available, €1.09 billion are earmarked for projects in all Member States while €6.47 billion are foreseen exclusively for projects in Member States eligible for funding from the EU's Cohesion Fund.
Which Member States are eligible to the Cohesion envelope?
The eligible Member States are: Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia.

“Hauliers who may inadvertently be paying drivers off-payroll may face a heavy claim for back tax and penalties of up to 70% of the tax and NI arising,” warns Burnett. “Also, individual drivers could face bankruptcy if they evade tax payments and then HMRC enforces its rules.”
