Greek owner Chandris has agreed to pay a $1m fine for dumping pollution into the Texas Gulf CoastThe chief engineer failed to document that the ship had dumped directly into the sea oily waste that should have been disposed through a separator aboard the vessel or burned in the ship’s incinerator.
Chandris was sentenced to three years of probation

The first power ship, to help to alleviate the power cuts in the country has begun its journey to Ghana. The ship is expected to dock at the Tema port in approximately 15 days.Karadeniz Holding is expected to build two electricity-generating vessels to produce over 450 MW of power, which is expected to contribute about 22 per cent of the country's electricity needs for 10 years.

21 Filipino crew members of the "Foxhound" were assisted by the Philippine Consulate General (PCG) in Sydney, Australia after their vessel sank in Northern New Guineain the Vitiaz Strait in Northern New Guinea on Oct 17 due to inclement weather. Lorry driver jailed for smuggling tobacco
A Polish lorry driver, who smuggled 445 kilos of tobacco into Dover’s Eastern Docks, has been jailed for 14 months. Adam Zbigniew Tyszkiewicz, 42, was arrested by Border Force officers in September 2015.They discovered 445 kilos of hand-rolling tobacco in his lorry. Following his arrest, HM Revenue and Customs carried out an investigation and discovered that around £82,747 of duty had been evaded.Did you know?
